News Update: Snap-on Releases Software Bundle 8.4

Snap-on Diagnostics has just released its best software upgrade ever, Software Bundle 8.4 for Snap-on's MODIS, SOLUS, SOLUS PRO, ETHOS and Vantage Pro diagnostic tools. The new software includes more coverage and functional tests for professional automotive service technicians.

Bundle 8.4 supplies expanded coverage back to 1992 for the cars that technicians see most often, and it offers significant coverage for late-model vehicles, such as 2008 GM, Ford, Chrysler, Nissan, Toyota and Subaru. The new release includes more than 10,000 additional vehicles systems, 3,000 more trouble codes, 8,000 new live data parameters, 700 new functional tests and bi-directional controls, 40,000 new and enhanced Fast-Track Troubleshooter tips, plus MODIS and Vantage Pro users get more than 4,000 new component test procedures for more than 400 new models.

Bundle 8.4 highlights include:

• GM EVAP service bay test and other new EVAP tests for GM, Chrysler, Honda and Mitsubishi
• ABS bleed function for 1992 - 2002 GM trucks and SUV
• Engine bi-directional controls for all 1994 - 2004 Ford cars and light trucks
• Body control coverage for the most popular makes with new powerful tests for Nissan, Toyota and Lexus
• Coverage for five new hybrid models, including the Toyota Prius, Honda Insight and Ford Escape

Additionally, Bundle 8.4 provides simplified navigation, improved diagnostic functions and the introduction of the first-ever access to the web-based Ask-a-Tech and its Fast-Track Troubleshooter tips, which come from technicians, based on real-world experiences in their shops. Bundle 8.4 includes 40,000 new or enhanced Troubleshooter tips and time savers for diagnostic and repair procedures addressing 2001-2006 vehicles, including new GM, Ford, Mazda and Chrysler drivetrain tips.

Snap-On continues to enhance OEM-specific coverage for European makes. MODIS, SOLUS PRO and ETHOS users get more capabilities with the European software option. It includes new and expanded coverage for 2002-2007 Volkswagen, BMW, MINI and Mercedes Benz, plus more adaptations and recalibrations.
